On April 29th & 30th, the boys' golf team traveled to Legends Golf Course in Kingland, TX for the UIL State Championship. The Panthers didn't get off to the start they were hoping for in the first round. They struggled on the day and shot a 318 and found themselves in 10th place after 18 holes. After a much better 2nd round, the Panthers moved up into the top 6 teams after a team score of 305. Mabank was led by sophomore Gunnar McGilvra who fired a second day 71 (-1) to finish in a tie for 14th individually. Other members of the team were juniors Jacob Steele ( T-29th) and Trace Donnell (64th) and freshmen Lawson Shackelford (T-31st) and Cameron Van Horn (T-48th). This tournament ends a great season for the Panthers that included 6 tournament victories and 2 runner-up finishes.
