MABANK FINISHES 2ND AT EDGEWOOD TOURNAMENT

Mabank Finishes 2nd at Edgewood Tournament

Naomi Rozanek and Braedon Compton brought home a 2nd place finish in Mixed Doubles at the Edgewood Varsity Tournament on March 27th. Angelica Forrest had a 2nd place finish in Girls Singles as well.
Rozanek and Compton battled back from being down 1-3 to winning their first match against Edgewood 8-3. During the second match after going 1-3 again, Rozanek suffered an ankle injury. She returned to play and the two went on to win 9-7 against Sunnyvale. In the Semi-finals the pair went on to beat a Wills Point Doubles 8-4. Compton and Rozanek finally met their match in the Championship Round taking a 3-8 loss against a very good Sunnyvale team.
Forrest cruised to the Championship Round in Girls Singles. She went 8-0 in her first match against a girl from Emory Rains, 8-3 against Edgewood, and 8-4 to a girl from Malakoff. She battled through cramps in her last match against a girl from Lone Oak but went down 0-8 to claim the 2nd place spot.
In other action, Landon Eastep ended his run in the Quarterfinals of the Boys Singles Division. Joey Guerrero lost his first match in Boys Singles, but pulled off a win in the consolation side of the bracket before losing again in his third match. Lily Chambers ran into tough competition and was out after two matches in Girls Singles. Madyson Moorhead and Cooper Cline also had a tough draw as they were out after two matches in Mixed Doubles as well.
